Zoë McNeil
Zoë McNeil is a native of Chicago, Illinois where her love of movement was cultivated after spending endless hours dancing with her brother and sister in the living room. Currently, Zoë is in her final year of studies at The Juilliard School, where she has had the privilege of performing works by Martha Graham, José Limón and Lar Lubovitch, as well as new creations by Kyle Abraham, Kate Weare, Brian Brooks and Camille A. Brown. Zoë has spent her summers participating in programs such as Nederlands Dans Theater and The San Francisco Conservatory of Dance where she has performed works by Crystal Pite, Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, and Ohad Naharin. Zoë has performed at Fall for Dance 2014 alongside the Brian Brooks Moving Company, as well as in Kate Weare’s 2015 residency at BAM Fisher Hall.
Zoë began her formal training at The Academy of Movement and Music in Oak Park. There, she trained in classical ballet and historical modern styles; often performing pieces by Doris Humphrey, Isadora Duncan, and Ruth St. Denis. In addition to her passion for dance, Zoë loves nature and water, enjoying swimming and surfing in her free time. She has spent many hours cleaning beaches as an active supporter of Surfrider Foundation. Zoë loves the ephemeral alchemy of dance and looks forward to her continued pursuit of the art form.
