Whitney Schmanski
Whitney is a current dance student of the Class of 2016, at the Juilliard School in New York City. She is engaged in choreographic endeavors alongside interdisciplinary collaborations and has recently received a Mercedes Eichholz Arts Entrepreneurship Prize. Whitney has studied at various programs and institutions including Springboard Danse Montreal, White Mountain Dance Festival, Movement Invention Project, Cedar Lake Ballet, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, LINES Ballet, and San Francisco School of the Arts. While in school, Whitney has been privileged to work with distinguished artists in addition to the Juilliard faculty including Kyle Abraham, Brian Brooks, Camille A. Brown, Peter Chu, Alexandra Damiani, Gregory Dawson, Alex Ketley, Ana-Maria Lucaciu, Bobbi Smith, and Kate Weare among others. Whitney has performed renowned repertoire of Merce Cunningham, Alexander Ekman, Eliot Feld, José Limón, and Ohad Naharin. Whitney has appeared in the Chicago Dancing Festival 2014, Fall for Dance 2014, and Kate Weare’s 2015 residency at BAM Fisher Hall. Whitney has most recently joined Brian Brooks Moving Company in performances at the 2015 Chicago Dancing Festival and the Hudson Valley Dance Festival. Whitney hopes to pursue her interests in dance science and kinesiology in the future as well as dance professionally.
